Hour of Remembrance

Enlarge image Last year’s Hour of Remembrance was held in Melbourne on Sunday, 13 November 2011 at the Martin Luther Homes Boronia and was organized by the German Lutheran Trinity Church and framed with music performed by the Choir of Bayswater South Primary School and flutist Zinaida Kaynarska.

Enlarge image Besides representatives of RSL, Temple Society and German Lutheran Trinity Church, the German Consul General Dr. Anne-Marie Schleich held a speech and remembered victims of wars, oppression and tyranny in Germany and worldwide. She emphasized the importance of working towards a peaceful world and of standing up against injustice and discrimination, wherever it occurs. "We should also show our support of the Australian and German soldiers, who currently risk their lives in Afghanistan or other countries, to bring peace about", said the Consul General.

A representative of the Defence Attaché of the German Embassy in Canberra took part in the ceremony.
